Graduation party cancelled

Buddy took his twins' new puppy to obedience school after it chewed up his new fishing creel. I'm sorry to have to report that the puppy didn't do very well and is being held back, so the graduation party has been cancelled. Come to remember, the same thing happened to Buddy.
Some volunteers repainted the jail cell at the police station this weekend. The paint was donated by Mavis Pinkston who had some left after repainting the beauty shop. Chief Wilkins said he appreciated the gesture but would have preferred if it wasn't lavender.
We all gathered over at the Wilsons' house on Sunday evening to celebrate Sarah's birthday. Leyland allowed that it seemed an awful lot of fuss for a woman who hasn't admitted to having aged a year since 1978.
And that's what's happening in Hoake's Mill.

The Family

Eldest son Floyd Jr. (Buddy) is an attorney in Hoake's Mill. He and his wife Amanda have twin sons, Bryan and Ryan.

Daughter Alice and her husband Peter Pritchard, a dentist, have two daughters, Carrie and Lori. They live in Baltimore.

Youngest son Wayne is not married, but Caroline remains hopeful. He works with Floyd at the hardware store.

Caroline's sister Elaine, is married to Judge Garland Johnston

Her brother, Billy Ray Crowder, is president of the Hoake's Mill Bank and Trust. His wife, Vicky, is enjoying her sixth term as president of the Sunshine Ladies Garden Club.

Floyd's brother Boyce and his wife Barbara comprise 1/3 of the faculty at the Poplar Street Elementary School.

His brother Harper and wife Janice operate the local drugstore. They still deliver!

Sister Patty and her husband, Deke, are retired and live near Tampa.

The Townspeople

Darlene Rodgers is Caroline's best friend. Her husband, Jack, works with Billy Ray at the bank.

Mavis Pinkston owns the beauty shop and is the town's most reliable source of gossip.

Cleve Hunnicutt runs the feed and garden store. His wife Charlotte has a small antique shop in the back corner next to the fertilizer.

Gayle Mosely is the town's wealthy widow. Both Fire Chief Pace and Police Chief Wilkins have been seen escorting Gayle to a number of social events recently. She loves a man in uniform.

E.J. Greenwood owns the local newspaper and radio station, making him a media mogul.

Daryl Hucks helps Floyd at the hardware store when he isn't fishing or hunting. He's also a part-time tractor driver for the road department and has a small farm.

Leyland and Sarah Wilson live next door to Caroline. They have been married for either 45 or 52 years depending on which one you ask.
